Rock, Dodd Win Two Matches at Beach Volleyball Tournament

Former El Toro High standout Angela Rock and partner Patty Dodd advanced through the first two rounds Thursday at the Alero Beach Volleyball Series at Huntington Beach.

Rock and Dodd, the top-seeded team in the women’s qualifier, defeated Bonnie Bright and Sara Schroeder, 15-10, in the second round. Rock and Dodd, who had a bye in the first round, will play Lynda Johnson-Black and Tammy Liebel in a third-round match today at 11 a.m. The winner advances to the 16-team main draw.

Men’s teams advancing to today’s main draw qualifying rounds include top-seeded Canyon Ceman of Hermosa Beach and San Juan Capistrano’s Adam Jewell, and Scott Friederichsen of Laguna Hills and Kevin Martin of Pacific Palisades. The men’s main draw qualifying matches begin at noon and 2 p.m.
