The City Council voted Tuesday to sponsor a Capistrano Unified teacher during a weeklong summer conference aimed at improving knowledge of local government. Council members approved spending $1,000 to send one educator to the Teacher’s Institute’s “Participating in Local Government” conference, Aug. 2-6 in Sacramento. The workshop is sponsored by the Institute for Local Self-Government, in cooperation with the League of California Cities.
Participants will learn how to incorporate local government issues into school curriculum and train other teachers, according to information provided to city staff.
