More than 120 students, teachers and parents at Serrano Intermediate School will take part in the fourth annual Medieval Faire, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Teacher Kathy Smith said students will be dressed in period costumes and will be taking part in traditional dances and games from the European medieval and Renaissance eras. The fair helps to bring together the history, literature and science of the time periods, Smith said. She and other teachers are helping to put together the program.
Students will see a shortened version of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” learn a medieval dance and be given a demonstration of a catapult. The day ends with a feast, with students and teachers digging into the food in the traditional style--without utensils.
