Jennifer Rosales of USC, the defending national champion, moved into a tie for fourth place with an even-par 71 after the second round of the NCAA women’s golf championships at Tulsa, Okla. Rosales is tied with Tamie Durdin of Pepperdine at 146, four strokes behind Grace Park of Arizona State. Pepperdine is second in the team competition, six strokes behind Duke.

Led by B.J. Schlagenhauf’s even-par 72 at Tucson National Resort in Arizona, the UCLA men’s golf team is tied for eighth place at eight-over 296 after one round at the NCAA West Regional. Jason Allred also shot a 72 to lead Pepperdine to an 11th-place 298. Arizona State leads the event with a five-under 283, five strokes ahead of Brigham Young and Nevada-Las Vegas. USC and UC Santa Barbara struggled, finishing in the bottom two spots.

Jeff Leuenberger and Darren Merrill combined on a seven-hitter to lead the No. 28 Long Beach State baseball team to a 12-0 victory over No. 1 Miami (39-13) before 1,498 at Blair Field in Long Beach.

Terrmel Sledge , Bryan Kennedy, Greg Dobbs, Abel Orozco, Mike Hota and Bobby Crosby each had two hits to lead the 49ers (33-21), who totaled 14 hits.

Cal Lutheran scored six runs in the fifth inning--highlighted by a two-run homer by Jeremy Schlosser--and defeated Southwestern Texas, 8-3, in the first round of the NCAA Division III West Regional baseball tournament at Georgetown, Texas.

Cal Lutheran (29-12) will play No. 1-seeded Chapman today in the double-elimination tournament. Chapman (38-3) defeated Sul Ross State, 5-1.
