A Granada Hills man who masterminded a series of bank robberies in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys was sentenced by a federal court judge Monday to more than 25 years.

Booker Terry Simmons, 32, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Lourdes Baird following his conviction in February on five felony counts including conspiracy and four counts of aiding and abetting bank robbery.

Booker did not actually enter the banks, but instead planned the heists, authored demand notes and drove the getaway car. His accomplice was sentenced to five years in prison.
