Making a left turn at three intersections may become easier if the City Council decides Tuesday to follow the Traffic Commission’s recommendation to install holding lanes. The commission will ask the council to fund the safety lanes, where cars can wait for traffic to clear, in the upcoming budget. Commissioners want to put in a lane on La Paz Road at Rancho Niguel Road within the next fiscal year. That lane and others on Alicia Parkway at Clipper Way and on Alicia Parkway at Pelican Way will cost about $25,000 each, said David Rogers, city traffic engineer.
