Fishermen who like to cast their lines into Woodbridge lakes during the quiet of night will have to find somewhere else to fish.

The Woodbridge Village Assn. responded to Warmspring residents’ complaints of noisy nocturnal fishing by voting 4 to 3 Wednesday to ban nighttime fishing.

Fishing will be permitted on North and South lakes from dawn to 10 p.m. only.

“I can’t believe what’s happening,” said Woodbridge resident Alex Principato, whose nighttime fishing near Warmspring initiated the first such complaints in the village’s 23-year history.

Residents Eric and Chris Yao first complained to the board of directors in September. They were regularly being awakened by Principato and his friend, Kirk Boyd, as the two fished near their home on South Lake, they said.

Boyd claimed Warmspring neighbors are hearing noise caused by other passersby who use the walking trail that runs along the lake. Those walking their dogs, jogging or skateboarding at night are the real culprits, he said.
