SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Three men suspected of killing a store manager during a robbery last weekend were arrested Friday night and early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Vincent Godoy, 27, was apprehended in Anaheim about 8:45 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. Rudy Ortega of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Deydis Corado, 20, and Carmelo Corado, 40, who told investigators they were not related, were arrested about 1 a.m. in Canyon Country.

All three men live in Canyon Country, said Lt. Larry Gump of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita station.

Luis Valdez, 32, a popular manager at Tresierras market in Newhall, was shot to death Oct. 30 when he discovered two masked robbers in the store’s back office, police said. Valdez was married and had two young sons.

Another store supervisor, Teresa Cano, was wounded in the robbery.

Gump said such violence is “extremely rare” in Newhall. Only one other slaying has occurred in the Santa Clarita region this year, and that crime was gang-related, he said.

All three suspects are being held at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station jail.
