Orange County sheriff’s detectives are continuing to tally felony charges against an alleged counterfeiting artist, officials said Friday. The count so far is 73.

Sheriff’s investigators arrested Paul Richard Ryan, 37, last month in Anaheim on suspicion of counterfeiting California driver’s licenses, ID cards and payroll checks, among other items.

The department has recommended prosecutors charge Ryan with 50 counts of counterfeiting the California state seal, 17 counts of possession of stolen property, three drug-related charges, two counts of forging checks and one count of possessing a driver’s license to commit forgery.

Authorities said Ryan is a prolific counterfeiter linked to 17 criminal cases in Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties. And the department is still receiving more calls concerning his alleged activities.

Officers also arrested John Douglas Goodfellow, 43, of Huntington Beach in connection with the case. He has been charged with 46 counts of counterfeiting.
