ORANGE
The City Council voted Tuesday to increase the trash collection rate from $9.10 to $10.25 a month beginning Jan. 1.
The new three-cart trash service includes a bin for recyclable materials, a cart for green waste and a container for refuse.
The rate remains lower than those of several other Orange County cities that use similar trash collection systems, including Irvine, Santa Ana and Yorba Linda, which charge as much as $13 to $15 a month.
