Grushow Promoted at Fox

In a restructuring that brings its network entertainment unit and television studio under one executive, Fox Entertainment Group has promoted Sandy Grushow to chairman of the newly formed Fox Television Entertainment Group. Grushow will oversee both Fox Entertainment, which programs the broadcast network, and Twentieth Century Fox Television, the prime-time television studio. Since becoming president of Twentieth in 1997, Grushow has built the division into the top-ranked television production studio with more prime-time shows on the air than any of its rivals. The widely anticipated appointment comes amid a downturn at the Fox network as new shows failed to catch on. Grushow said his biggest challenge will be to find replacements for retiring hits such as “Beverly Hills 90210.” While Walt Disney Co. has recently merged production and network entertainment in an effort to cut costs and produce more shows for ABC internally, Grushow says Fox will keep the two divisions separate.
