Owens’ Illness Changes Plans of Crazy Horse

Share

Plans for Buck Owens & the Buckaroos to sing adios to the Crazy Horse Steak House’s original location on Monday night were derailed when the singer came down with the flu and had to postpone his appearance, a Crazy Horse spokeswoman said Monday.

The club’s owners hope to reschedule Owens’ show and will postpone the closing of the Crazy Horse’s home of 20 years in Santa Ana until he can perform.

The club is moving to a new, larger site in the Irvine Spectrum around mid-December.

Owens began to feel ill Friday and had to cancel the second of two regularly scheduled Friday night shows and two Saturday performances at his Crystal Palace club in Bakersfield, Owens spokesman Jim Shaw said Monday.

“On Saturday, Buck thought he’d be well in time to play the Crazy Horse on Monday, but instead he just got worse.” Shaw said Owens saw his doctor Monday and was waiting to hear how soon he would be allowed to perform again.

For ticket holders who had not learned of Owens’ late cancellation before coming to the club, the Crazy Horse booked local group Kevin Banford & the Bakersfield Boys to give a free performance Monday evening. Information: (714) 549-1512.
