Jaromir Jagr’s season-long scoring streak ended because of a groin injury but the Pittsburgh Penguins still beat the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, on Tuesday night at Pittsburgh.

Jagr, the NHL scoring leader with 33 points in 16 games, left because of a strained groin just after Pittsburgh scored three goals in a 3:04 span in the first period to chase rookie goalie Martin Biron.

Jagr missed four games of the Penguins’ first-round playoff upset of New Jersey last spring because of the same injury. His status for Thursday’s game at Tampa Bay was not known.
