An attorney who specializes in aviation law said she will advise the City Council on a specific direction to take regarding a proposed Marine Corps helipad within the next two weeks.

The helipad, which the Marines plan to build 3 1/2 miles from San Clemente city limits, has been a source of contention among residents who fear the noise caused by the 430 daily training operations the facility will handle will become a constant nuisance.

After the council discussed the matter in closed session Wednesday night, Barbara Lichman said the city has been in discussion with officials at Camp Pendleton and will soon determine a course of action.
