The Milwaukee Bucks were giving one another high-fives, while the San Antonio Spurs were pointing fingers.

Ray Allen had 26 points and Dale Ellis scored all of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Bucks beat the defending champions, 99-88, Thursday night at Milwaukee.

The matchup remained tight until midway through the fourth quarter when the Bucks pulled away with an offensive rush the Spurs couldn’t defend and couldn’t match on the other end.

San Antonio has lost two of three after starting the season 6-1. David Robinson took his teammates to task for their weak fourth-quarter effort.

“It’s the same mistakes. We can’t get five guys out there on the same page,” Robinson said. “Right now, half the guys on the floor are doing the right thing. It’s about time guys begin to understand what we’re doing.”

The score was tied, 68-68, at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Bucks held the Spurs to six field goals in the period while ending the game with a 14-5 run.

The Bucks improved to 4-0 at home and took over first place in the Central Division.

“That was a prime example of what we can do,” said Glenn Robinson, who had 22 points. “Anybody on this team can get hot and carry us for a while, but when several guys get it going at the same time, we’re impressive.”

Tim Duncan had 29 points and 14 rebounds but also committed seven turnovers. Robinson added 21 points for San Antonio, but the Spurs missed nine free throws in the second half.

Seattle 110, Vancouver 108--Gary Payton helped the SuperSonics overcome a 10-point deficit in the final 1:39 at Vancouver, Canada.

Payton scored 10 points as Seattle closed the game with a 14-2 run. He finished with 24 points.

Seattle trailed, 106-96, before rallying. Payton put the SuperSonics ahead for good by making a three-point basket with 5.2 seconds left.

Sacramento 128, Houston 110--Jason Williams had 23 points and 10 assists and the Kings used a 17-1 burst in the fourth quarter to beat the Rockets at Houston.

The Kings won their fourth game in a row and the Rockets dropped to 0-6 in Compaq Center, their worst home start ever.

The Kings had to overcome a season-high 31-point performance by Hakeem Olajuwon.

Washington 92, Toronto 81--Isaac Austin had a season-high 20 points and 13 rebounds at Washington as the Wizards stopped a seven-game losing streak.

Michael Smith had a career-high 12 points and Mitch Richmond added 12 for Washington, which hadn’t won since its Nov. 2 season opener.

Wizard Coach Gar Heard, who promised to shake up his underachieving starting lineup after a 22-point home loss to Philadelphia on Tuesday, made only one change. Rookie Richard Hamilton, the team’s third-leading scorer, replaced six-time all-star Richmond, who was averaging only 8.9 points a game.
