Storm Leaves Fender Benders, Power Failure in Its Wake

A swift-moving storm swept through Ventura County early Saturday, dropping a small amount of rain and causing a minor power outage along the coast.
Santa Paula logged two-tenths of an inch of rain, while 0.16 of an inch fell in Thousand Oaks, Port Hueneme and Moorpark. About one-tenth of an inch was reported in Oxnard and Ventura, according to the county’s Flood Control District.
Rain caused a power failure that affected 1,850 customers east of Mandalay Bay in Oxnard about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, said Fred Trueblood, regional manager for Southern California Edison.
Power was restored to most customers by 2 a.m. and to the remainder before 8 a.m., Trueblood said.
The California Highway Patrol reported about half a dozen fender benders.
Clear and breezy conditions with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s were forecast for today. Winds could gust to 30 mph inland. Clear skies are also expected Monday, said Stuart Seto, a federal weather specialist.
