Titans’ Calavitta Wins at All-California Wrestling Meet
Cal State Fullerton’s Joey Calavitta defeated Arizona State’s Eric Larkin in a 5-4 decision to take first place in the 149-pound weight class at the All-California wrestling open at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
The Titans’ Jason Webster lost by decision, 6-5, to Cal State Bakersfield’s Andy Varner in the 174-pound weight class.
In the Redlands women’s basketball tournament:
Chapman 76, Redlands 57--Tournament MVP Shamekia Perkins scored a game-high 24 points for Chapman (2-0) in the title game.
In the NAIA cross-country championships:
Mintzlaff fourth--Concordia’s Oliver Mintzlaff finished fourth, running the 8,000-meter course in Kenosha, Wis., in 24:18. Mintzlaff’s finish and time were the best performances by a Golden State Athletic Conference male runner in its 13-year history.
Tricia Mattson was 13th in 18:19 for 3.1 miles and Rachel Lafady was 17th in 18:23 to lead the Concordia women to fifth place.
