Selanne to Make a Decision Today

Share

Right wing Teemu Selanne said Friday that he would play tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. But Selanne will wait until after this morning’s skate to determine if he is sufficiently recovered from a groin strain that has sidelined him for three games.

Selanne had hoped to play in Friday’s 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, but decided against it after the morning skate. The Ducks did not practice Saturday or Sunday, so today will be his first chance to test the injury at full speed.

Selanne’s purple team defeated Paul Kariya’s white team at the NHL SuperSkills competition Sunday at the Arrowhead Pond. The players competed in six different events.

Among the individual winners was enforcer Stu Grimson, who had the hardest shot at 97.9 mph. Center Steve Rucchin had the most accurate shot and winger Marty McInnis was the fastest skater.

Proceeds were donated to several charities, including Hockey Fights Cancer.

* Record vs. Canadiens--0-1.

* Update--The Canadiens made the Ducks look bad in a 2-1 victory Nov. 11 at Montreal. The overconfident Ducks mailed in a feeble effort that angered Coach Craig Hartsburg. The next day’s practice consisted of 25 minutes of almost nonstop wind sprints. Don’t bet on the Ducks overlooking Montreal this time.
