Parker Scores 39 as Santa Ana Beats Desert

Sophomore forward Atari Parker scored 39 points, got 15 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Santa Ana to a 104-49 victory over College of the Desert in a nonconference women’s basketball game Tuesday at Santa Ana.

Parker, who earlier this season set the Santa Ana single-game scoring record with 43 points, was 15 of 26 from the field including making four of six three-point attempts. She also made five of six free throws for Santa Ana (5-1).

Sophomore forward Stephanie Patten added 22 points on 11 of 30 shooting for Santa Ana. Patten also had 15 rebounds as Santa Ana outrebounded Desert, 56 to 31.

Santa Ana shot 43% (making 43 of 100) and Desert shot 35% (17 of 48).

Sydney Patten added 10 points and nine rebounds for Santa Ana.

Claudette Salazar was the leading scoring for Desert (1-1) with 12 points.

In other nonconference games:

Golden West 67, Victor Valley 61--Evalani Tagaloa and Katie Werdel scored 15 points each to lead visiting Golden West, which led by seven at the half.

Annie Smith scored 20 of her 26 points in the first half for Victor Valley.

Orange Coast 76, El Camino 50--Shauna Steward led Orange Coast (5-1) with 18 points, including four three-pointers.

Sarah Middlebrooke added 14 points and was the rebound leader with 14 for the Pirates.

Leah Wilde and Karyn Fierst also scored 10 points each for Orange Coast.

Karen Greenleaf was both the high scorer and rebound leader for host El Camino (2-4) with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
