Pacific 78, Loyola Marymount 46--Clay McKnight scored 25 points, connecting on seven three-point shots at Stockton, Calif.
Ross Mills added 15 points and Barry Marvel had nine for Pacific (1-1), which defeated Loyola Marymount (1-1) for the first time since 1983, snapping a five-game losing streak.
Pacific outshot the Lions, 47% to 28% from the field. Loyola Marymount’s shooting problems were evident early against Pacific’s aggressive defense as the Lions missed their first eight shots while falling behind, 10-2.
Over the next eight minutes, the Tigers took off on a 16-4 run during which McKnight made four three-point baskets.
