Several hundred teachers packed the boardroom at the Fullerton School District on Tuesday night in an effort to convince the board to approve a salary proposal.

Teachers occupied nearly every seat and stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the back of the room. Dozens could not get in and milled in the hallway outside the meeting room.

The teachers’ union submitted a wage proposal in September and is still waiting for the board to decide whether to accept it.

Mimi Gaudette, president of the Fullerton Elementary Teachers Assn., had urged the teachers to show up after the board postponed a planned meeting with negotiators two weeks ago.

Board officials said they would consider the salary increase and vote on the proposal before January.
