Tuomainen, Chartrand Trade Places

The Kings have moved right wing Marko Tuomainen back to the third line, where he started the season.

Brad Chartrand, who replaced Tuomainen when he was injured on Oct. 20, has moved to the fourth line.

The idea is to put some extra offensive punch into the third line with Tuomainen, who has five goals, and to give him more ice time.

Also, to get some extra punch into the fourth line, winger Ziggy Palffy frequently has been double-shifted over the past couple of games, replacing Steve McKenna--particularly when McKenna is in the penalty box, serving time for performing his enforcer duties--and joining Jason Blake and Chartrand.

Ian Laperriere was involved in a scary situation Saturday.

“I don’t know where I was Saturday night, but I wasn’t at Staples Center at all,” said Laperriere, the King center who was devastated when Montreal’s Brian Savage was carted from the ice on a stretcher during the second period of the Canadiens’ 5-3 win.

The two skate together in off-season training in Montreal.

Savage was found to have broken two vertebrae in his neck when he ran into Laperriere’s elbow with his head down after missing a shot.

After the game, Laperriere went to the hospital.

“I didn’t feel too good, and I just wanted to tell him I was sorry. He said to me, ‘it’s part of the game,’ ” Laperriere said.

Luc Robitaille is skating again after being sidelined for more than two weeks because of a broken bone in his left foot, and the sessions have extended to as long as 30 minutes.
