Pedestrian Crossing PCH in Dana Point Killed

A 30-year-old pedestrian crossing Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point was struck and killed early Friday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, whose name is being withheld until relatives are notified, was hit by a San Juan Capistrano man driving north on PCH, south of Del Obispo Street, about 5 a.m., said Lt. Steve Fauchier. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The case is being investigated. The driver, 75, was not arrested. Fauchier said counselors from the Trauma Intervention Program went to the scene to help calm the driver.
