The City Council listened to half a dozen residents and business owners speak against the city renewing a 12-year authority for eminent domain for land between the Santa Ana Freeway and Edinger Avenue, and the Costa Mesa Freeway and Red Hill Avenue during a public hearing Monday.
Although some residents believe their property is in danger, city officials said they have no intention of selling the land. The council will vote on the eminent domain renewal at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at 300 Centennial Way.
