Orange Coast Women Defeat Saddleback

Nerissa Reidenbaugh scored four goals to lead Orange Coast to an 8-5 victory over Saddleback in an Orange Empire Conference women’s water polo game Wednesday at Orange Coast College.

Kristin Miller and Alexa Olsen each scored twice for Saddleback (7-5, 0-1). One of Olsen’s goals tied the score, 4-4, in the third period.

Jessica Hylton scored the decisive sixth goal for the Pirates (10-2, 1-0), also in the third period.

In nonconference women’s water polo:

Cypress 14, Southwestern 5--Cypress outscored Southwestern 11-2 in the second half. Karen Steen led Cypress (10-7) with three goals.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s golf:

Orange Coast 339, Saddleback 342, Cypress 383, Fullerton 387, Irvine Valley 419--Saddleback’s Olivia Slutzky shot a two-over-par 75 to lead the pack at El Prado and Chino Creek.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Cypress 3, Fullerton 0--Heather Storey had 14 kills to lead Cypress to a 15-9, 15-1, 15-11 win. Karly Reisch and Annie Dedic each had eight kills for Fullerton (5-1, 1-0).

Golden West 3, Riverside 0--Former Marina High standout Julie Renfrow led Golden West with 12 kills and former high school teammate Grace Boyd had seven kills and a match-high nine blocks as the Rustlers won, 15-4, 15-7, 15-8.

Marissa Cothram, formerly of Newport Harbor, had 47 assists for Golden West (6-0, 1-0), which is ranked No. 1 in the state.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s water polo:

Orange Coast 13, Saddleback 6--Scott Butler scored three goals for host Orange Coast, which broke open the game by outscoring Saddleback, 5-0, in the third period. Jonny Geiger scored two goals for Saddleback (7-5-1, 1-1).

In South Coast Conference men’s water polo:

Golden West 18, Long Beach 5--Danny Johnson scored three of his four goals in an eight-goal first quarter as second-ranked Golden West (14-1-1, 3-0) dominated Long Beach at Belmont Plaza.

In nonconference men’s water polo:

Cypress 9, Southwestern 6--Robert Fair and Chris Hamme each scored three goals for Cypress (7-9). Charger goalie Farhad Dadkho had 15 saves.
