First, Mia Hamm found the cracks in Finland’s bunker defense.

Then, Kristine Lilly knocked down what little remained of it.

Lilly scored two second-half goals and Hamm had three first-half assists Thursday night as the United States beat Finland, 6-0, in the second leg of the U.S. Women’s Cup.

“We always try to go out and play hard and give the fans a show,” said Hamm, who assisted on all three of the United States’ first-half goals before sitting out the second half. “I think we did that tonight. We created a lot of good scoring opportunities and were able to finish them.”

The United States, which improved to 2-0 in the three-game tournament and has outscored its opponents, 11-0, outshot Finland, 27-0, in front of a crowd of 36,405--the largest to see a soccer game in Kansas City.

The Americans’ dominance made for a slow return to action for goalkeeper Briana Scurry, who hadn’t played since injuring her hip making a shootout save in the World Cup final win over China on July 10.

“I didn’t mind being bored back there,” Scurry said. “Practice has been unbelievable. You saw the way they played tonight. That’s the way they’ve been playing in practice, so I’ve been digging plenty of balls out of the back of the net.”

In the early game, Roseli and Raquel scored two goals each to lead Brazil to a 4-0 win over South Korea.

Roseli, who missed the World Cup with a knee injury as Brazil finished third, has four goals and one assist in two U.S. Women’s Cup games. South Korea has been outscored, 9-0, in its two games.
