A 10-year-old North Hills boy was in fair condition Saturday after a car struck him in a crosswalk at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Nordhoff Street, police said.

The boy was airlifted to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles with a fractured bone in his left arm, a broken pelvis and open wounds in his abdomen, said Officer Jason Manning of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.

“The driver was traveling eastbound on Nordhoff around 12:45 p.m. and he was making a right turn onto Sepulveda and the kid was right there,” Manning said. “The car went over the top of him.”

The 57-year-old driver, whose name was not released, immediately stopped, Manning said. Drugs or alcohol were not involved, he said. Police are still investigating.

The boy was to have surgery on his arm late Saturday, hospital spokesman Steve Rutledge said.

“His vital signs are stable, and he’s in fair condition,” Rutledge said.
