Big Third Period Lifts Utah, 3-1
The Utah Grizzlies scored three third-period goals to defeat the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 3-1, Saturday night at Salt Lake City.
Len Barrie scored shorthanded for the Ice Dogs (1-2) with less than a minute to go in the first period, taking a feed from former King Pavel Rosa.
While the Ice Dogs weren’t in much of a scoring mood, both teams were in a fighting one, as 344 penalty minutes were handed out in the fight-filled game. The biggest brawl came at the game’s end, when all 10 players around a faceoff squared off as the game ended.
