Crash Into Tree Kills Car’s Teen Passenger
A Carson woman died early Saturday after the driver of the vehicle she was riding in apparently fell asleep at the wheel and struck a tree in Irvine, police said.
Debbie Adame and Jimar Garcia, both 18, were traveling south on Culver Drive near Walnut Avenue at 1:20 a.m. when the collision occurred, according to Denny Jenner, Irvine police traffic investigator.
The car jumped a curb and struck a tree in the median before rolling onto its side, Jenner said.
When paramedics arrived, they rushed Adame to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she died of multiple injuries. Garcia, of Irvine, was not injured.
Police requested that anyone with information about the crash call Doug Coffing at (949) 724-7024.
