Lights to Be Installed Near Fatal Crash Site

In response to a traffic accident that killed a pregnant woman and two of her children, Los Angeles officials plan to install flashing yellow traffic lights near the accident site in Boyle Heights.

Councilman Nick Pacheco announced the safety measure at a meeting of about 300 residents and parents of children at Lorena Street Elementary School.

The meeting focused on the concerns of residents after an Oct. 8 traffic accident that killed Analidia Villasenor, who was four months pregnant, and her sons Antonio Zepeda, 5, and Jose Zepeda, 1.

The three had been waiting to cross the intersection of South Lorena and Beswick streets when they were hit by a car that had spun out of control after colliding with a van.

The flashing yellow lights will be installed over the next few weeks along South Lorena Street near the elementary school, two blocks from the site of the accident.

City officials have installed temporary 25-mph speed limit signs near the school.
