* Celluloid--The Jewish Federation/Valley Alliance will present the Southern California premiere of Roger Hanen’s film “Soleil” on Oct. 28 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Scherr Forum. * Traditional--The Westside Cultural Center in Ventura will host Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities Nov. 2 at the Ventura Avenue Plaza, 572 N. Ventura Ave. The event will begin at sundown with a procession of costumed celebrants and will include a performance by El Teatro Inlakech, folkloric dancing, traditional foods and more. During the holiday, which melds Aztec and Catholic traditions, death is mocked, celebrated and honored as a way of giving meaning to life. Free. 643-3471.
