She Forsakes Montecito for a Ministry

Marianne Williamson--a popular metaphysical teacher, lecturer and author--has sold her home in the Montecito area of Santa Barbara for about its $2.65-million asking price.

Williamson, 47, moved recently to the Detroit area when she became the senior minister of Unity Church of Today in Warren, Mich.

Williamson, who rose to fame with her ’92 bestseller “A Return to Love,” wrote the new book “Enchanted Love, the Mystical Power of Intimate Relationships” (Simon & Schuster). She also founded the bicoastal Centers for Living, giving meals and other help to sufferers of such life-challenging illnesses as AIDS.

Her former Montecito home has three bedrooms plus a guest house, with its own office, and sits on slightly more than an acre at the end of a long drive lined with olive trees. The main house has an elevator; a library with antique Chinese, hand-painted wall coverings, and a living room overlooking a pool.

Patricia Baehr-Griffin of Pitts & Bachmann Realtors had the listing.

Actress-singer Adrienne Frantz, who plays Amber on the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has purchased a Studio City home for slightly more than its asking price of $649,000.

The actress, 21, appears in the films “Jimmy Zip” and “Speedway Junky,” a Gus Van Sant-produced tale about kids on the streets of Las Vegas.

Frantz, named best female vocalist at the 1997 Los Angeles International Music Awards, co-wrote and performed the title song for “Jimmy Zip.” She has had other original songs featured on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

She bought a Spanish-style, four-bedroom home. Built in 1925, the 4,100-square-foot house also has a gated entry, a spa and patios. Andrew Manning of Fred Sands’ Studio City office and Stephanie Vitacco of Sands’ north Valley regional office had the listing.
