SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A Rancho Cucamonga woman was killed after she lost control of her car early Wednesday on California 118, authorities said.

Fae Bond, 28, was driving westbound near Collins Drive about 7:45 a.m. when her car crossed the center divider and flipped over several times. Bond was ejected from the vehicle.

Both eastbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes, said Robert Arauza, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.

“All the windows were broken, and most likely she was ejected through the driver’s side window,” Arauza said. “She wasn’t wearing a seat belt.”

Bond died of head and chest injuries at Simi Valley Hospital at 8:28 a.m.

It was second Moorpark fatality in less than 24 hours, authorities said.

Alicia Sanchez, 40, died Tuesday after being struck by a car on Los Angeles Avenue between Science Drive and Spring Road.

Sanchez and her 12-year-old daughter, Nelenda, were walking home from Mesa Verde School when they decided to jaywalk across Los Angeles Avenue, authorities said.

They ran across three lanes of traffic and were just inches from reaching the curb when they were hit, authorities said.

Sanchez pushed her daughter out of the car’s path but was struck by the right front fender of the vehicle, which was being driven by 43-year-old Iliana Hernandez Lewis of Moorpark.

Lewis had exited California 23 and was driving west on Los Angeles Avenue at about 45 mph, the posted speed limit.

Although the case is still under investigation, authorities believe it was an accident.
