Toll Road Fatality
A 53-year-old Aliso Viejo man was killed Friday when his car went over the side of an offramp from the San Joaquin Hills toll road, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, apparently was traveling south on the toll road in a 1990 Honda Civic and making an exit at Aliso Creek Road when his car went over the side of the ramp, rolling several times, California Patrol Officer Bruce Lian said.
CHP responded to a call shortly after 7 a.m., Lian said, but officers could not immediately determine the exact time of the accident because the wrecked car was not visible from the road before dawn.
The reason for the accident has not been determined either, Lian said, but no other vehicles appear to have been involved. The investigation is continuing, he said.
