Body Found Near Freeway Offramp
Caltrans workers found the body of an elderly white woman on a shrub-covered embankment near a Ventura Freeway offramp Saturday morning.
The California Highway Patrol closed the westbound Glendale Avenue offramp for five hours after the body was discovered about 10 a.m., authorities said.
Workers cleaning the freeway embankment discovered the decomposing body after smelling an odor, said Glendale Police Sgt. Paul Hayashida. The identity of the woman was unknown, and there were no signs of foul play, police said.
Homeless people often camp in the area, and investigators found the belongings of a homeless person next to the body, police said.
