Straight Thinking on Left Turns
* I disagree that “protective-permissive” left turn signals are any more dangerous than regular traffic signals. In fact, they’re efficient.
Your Oct. 10 article left out the frustration factor in having to wait for the next green arrow when you could safely make a turn.
Your article mentioned that these lights cause confusion. Maybe if more signals used a protective-permissive left turn, people would be more comfortable with them.
At the Newport Avenue and 6th Street signal in Huntington Beach are flags to help warn drivers. Does this simple, low-cost warning help?
