NEWSWIRE : Titan Coach Horton Signs 4-Year Contract

Cal State Fullerton baseball Coach George Horton said Tuesday he has signed a four-year contract.

Horton had signed a three-year contract when he replaced Augie Garrido when Garrido left to become coach at Texas in 1996. Horton had been Garrido’s associate head coach for six years.

The Titans have won two Big West championships in Horton’s three seasons as head coach, and reached the NCAA playoffs all three seasons. Fullerton made its first College World Series trip under Horton last season. The Titans are 136-55-1 in Horton’s three seasons.

“I’m encouraged about the way everything is going in all areas of our program,” Horton said. “We’re closer than ever to expanding our stadium.”
