VENTURA COUNTY NEWS : Measures May Make Bid for Supervisorial Seat
Former Ventura Councilwoman Rosa Lee Measures plans to announce today whether she will run for a seat on the county Board of Supervisors next spring.
Measures, 61, will address her potential candidacy at a news conference at the Hall of Justice.
If she runs, Measures will join former Councilman Steve Bennett and current Councilman Jim Monahan in the race for the seat being vacated by District 1 Supervisor Susan Lacey, who will not seek a sixth term.
Measures, a former banker of 25 years who now manages her family’s investments, was elected to the City Council in November 1993 and served four years before opting not to seek reelection in 1997.
During her tenure, Measures supported efforts to increase tourism and the number of businesses in Ventura. She was a proponent of managed growth and supported the expansion of the Buenaventura Mall.
She is a former deputy mayor and also served on several nonprofit and government boards and committees, said her spokeswoman, Karyl Lynn Burns.
Measures, a 33-year Ventura resident, is married to Albert Harris, and the couple have five children and eight grandchildren.
