An Orange County Superior Court judge ruled Wednesday to have two sentences deleted from a rebuttal statement opposing the Huntington Beach Union High School District’s $123-million school bond, which will be printed on the Nov. 9 special-election ballot.
The two deleted sentences stated, “The bond issue comes from those who foolishly gave away our school land to Home Depot and wanted ‘racial quotas for student transfers.’ “The other statement claims opponents should never reelect the politicians who support the measure.
The lawsuit was one of two lawsuits school bond advocate Steve Bone filed against the Orange County Registrar of Voters because he felt misleading and inaccurate statements were made in the opposing and rebuttal statements written by bond opponent William Fitzgerald Jr.
Bone won the first lawsuit Aug. 17 when a Superior Court judge ruled to strike a part of the opposing statement that said passing the bond would allow millions of dollars to be diverted to administrator salaries.
