POP MUSIC CHARTS : Dixie Chicks’ ‘Fly’ Starts at the Top

Share

Is it just an echo of the fading country boom or the start of a new crossover assault? Time will tell, but “Fly,” the Dixie Chicks’ fittingly titled follow-up to their breakthrough “Wide Open Spaces,” made an impressive first-week showing, hitting No. 1 on both the Southern California and national sales charts. One album that might be inappropriately titled is Puff Daddy’s “Forever,” which took a big drop after its No. 2 debut.
