Man, 81, Drowns in Backyard Pool
An 81-year-old Laguna Beach man drowned after he fell into a backyard pool Thursday, authorities said.
Neighbors found John Lowman, who lived alone, floating in the water unconscious and fully clothed about 8 p.m., officials said. Pool cleaning equipment was found in the water.
Lowman was taken to South Coast Medical Center, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, said Joseph Luckey, Orange County senior supervising deputy coroner.
The drowning was declared to be accidental after a police investigation. “There were no suspicious circumstances,” Luckey said.
