It’s a safe bet that Damon’s will be packed on Sundays. An elaborate cable and satellite system will carry all the NFL games.

The menu includes appetizers, chicken, steak, seafood, salads, ribs, and sandwiches, along with children’s fare.

A note for Cleveland Browns enthusiasts: Damon’s is a designated “official site” for the Southern California Browns Backers Assn.

This will be a hot spot for Dawg Pound wannabes to celebrate the Browns’ return to the NFL this year. Also, a few college football team fan clubs meet here, including Nebraska, Ohio State and Michigan contingents.

Season Ticket in Simi Valley epitomizes the neighborhood bar concept. As bartender Ellie Kosovac says, “Everybody knows everybody and we root for each other’s teams.” Vikings, Raiders and Rams fans are numerous there, she said. Season Ticket is satellite-equipped to carry all the NFL games, which are shown on two big screens and nine televisions.

Brett Tucker, who recently moved to the area from Reno, leases kitchen space from owner Marc Kusel. His operation is neither a restaurant nor a grill, but the professionally trained Tucker prepares appetizers and cold sandwiches, along with chef’s, Cobb and Caesar salads. Breakfast foods, served any time, include eggs, omelets, pancakes and breakfast burritos.

Cajun-Creole cuisine is a Tucker specialty, as is evidenced by his Cajun-style fish and chips, blackened rib-eye steaks and fish, and jambalaya, which is prepared each Friday for the lunch crowd. Tucker said he will prepare the Creole dish on Sundays, if there is a demand for it.

Cronies Sports Grill, with locations in Ventura and Camarillo, likes to stress its family atmosphere.

“We don’t tolerate any riffraff,” said co-owner Dave Foldes. “We love to make a lot of noise, but you don’t have to worry about any baloney.”

You won’t find any on the menu, either.

In Ventura, the regular menu features deli-style sandwiches, salads and burger variations. Appetizers include spicy buffalo wings, pizza bread, mini-corn dogs and veggie concoctions.

Both Cronies locations are satellite equipped to receive all the games, which can be viewed on big screen and television monitors. Steelers, Packers, Broncos, Raiders, 49ers, Rams and Cowboys fans will find a home at either site.

A note for high school football fans: the Ventura site stays open a little longer on Fridays to show “Football Focus” on KEYT-TV, Channel 3. It features highlights from games in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
