Rio Mesa 19, San Marcos 0--Pancho Tinoco gained 247 all-purpose yards and figured in every touchdown for host Rio Mesa.
Tinoco, who passed for 108 yards and rushed for 144 yards in 18 carries, gave Rio Mesa the only score in the first half when he threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to Mike Liranzo with 36 seconds left in the half. The play was set up by linebacker Carlos Anaya, who recovered a San Marcos fumble at Rio Mesa’s eight-yard line.
Late in the third quarter, Tinoco scored on a three-yard run. On Rio Mesa’s last touchdown, Tinoco scrambled 23 yards and lateraled to Liranzo, who went the final 67 yards for the touchdown.
Liranzo rushed for 94 yards and had two receptions for 92 yards.
For San Marcos, Carlos Santano rushed for 144 yards in 18 carries, including 115 in 10 carries in the first half.
