Lawrence E. Jones; Title Company Official

Lawrence “Larri” Edward Jones, senior vice president at American Title Co., died at his Ventura home Saturday. He was 62.

Jones was born Aug. 20, 1937, at Ardmore, Okla. His family moved to Porterville, Calif., when he was 4 and he attended school there.

After attending Pasadena City College, he went to Fresno State University.

He met his wife to be, Denise, in Porterville and the couple married on June 20, 1963.

His wife said he enjoyed his job and his family. He also liked hunting and fishing.

Jones founded and managed numerous title and escrow companies throughout Southern California. Most recently, as senior vice president for American Title, he managed the firm’s Ventura and Santa Barbara County operations.

He was active on the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Ventura College Foundation board and Ventura County Symphony board.

In past years, he worked with the Ventura County Economic Development Assn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Jane Bowen of Thousand Oaks, sons Mark Giddings of Ventura and Reed Jones of Los Angeles, mother Geneva Jones of Porterville, brother Dennis Jones of Porterville and one grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society can be made in his name.

Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, with the Rev. Jay Mahan officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura.
