Harris Is One-Man Show in Woodbridge’s Victory

Shane Harris scored two touchdowns and kicked a 40-yard field goal to lead Woodbridge to a 30-0 nonleague victory over Foothill Friday night at Irvine High.

Harris rushed for 109 yards in 14 carries and quarterback Jimmy Pearson completed nine of 16 passes for 106 yards for the Warriors, ranked eighth in Orange County.

Harris also recovered a fumble in the third quarter on the Woodbridge five-yard line, which ended the most serious scoring threat of the night for Foothill (0-2).

Woodbridge took a 3-0 lead on a 40-yard field goal by Harris with 6 minutes 36 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Warriors then moved ahead, 10-0, on a one-yard touchdown run by Pearson with 10:32 left in the half. The touchdown capped a 13-play, 75-yard drive.

The Warriors took a 17-0 lead on a 44-yard touchdown run by Harris with 7:09 left in the half.

Harris gave Woodbridge a 23-0 lead when he returned a punt 65 yards for a score with 4:33 remaining in the half.

Woodbridge moved to a 30-0 lead on a two-yard touchdown run by Will Banks with 1:18 left in the third quarter.

Foothill struggled all night offensively, losing the ball twice on fumbles.

Foothill was led by senior tailback Skyler Champion, who rushed for 85 yards in 21 carries.

Knight quarterback Mike Castillo completed nine of 17 passes for 61 yards with one interception.

Dave Grijalva was Woodbridge’s leading receiver with four catches for 53 yards. The leading receiver for Foothill was Kurtis Katnik, who had three catches for 31 yards.
