Landfill Road Paved to Curb Dust Clouds
The Ventura Regional Sanitation District has finished a $157,000 road-paving project on the Toland Road Landfill to reduce the clouds of dust coming from the dump.
Farmers and other residents living near the facility on California 126 between Santa Paula and Fillmore have complained bitterly about dust, flocks of ravens and litter at the site.
The district was responding to those complaints and to Ventura County supervisors’ concerns, said district officials.
The mile-long, 24-foot-wide road was completed by DC Construction of Santa Paula, with 2,200 tons of asphalt, officials said.
