The City Council voted this week to set up a Senior Citizen Advisory Board to help coordinate policies and monitor issues affecting the city’s growing senior population.

Nine people will be appointed to the volunteer board, made up of residents 55 and over. Board members will suggest policies, programs and activities to benefit seniors and will serve as a liaison between local organizations and government agencies that work with senior citizens.

Brea, like many cities, anticipates a dramatic rise in its senior population. Senior citizens make up 24 percent of Brea’s population today.
