Inkster’s 67 Gives Her Share of Lead
Juli Inkster, needing one more victory to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame, shot a five-under-par 67 Friday to grab a share of the first-round lead in the Safeway LPGA Golf Championship at Portland, Ore.
Inkster, who won the U.S. Open and LPGA Championship and is battling Karrie Webb for player-of-the-year honors, had four birdies and five pars over her final nine holes at the 6,307-yard Columbia-Edgewater Country Club course.
Minutes after Inkster finished, Rosie Jones birdied No. 17 to pull into a tie for the lead.
