Glacier Water Services Names Successors to CEO Welch

* Glacier Water Services Inc., the Carlsbad-based operator of water vending machines in the Southwest and Midwest, has promoted Chief Operating Officer Jerry Gordon to president and chief executive, succeeding Chairman and CEO Jerry Welch. The company said Welch is resigning to devote more time to his duties as chairman and CEO of Westlake Village-based Right Start Inc., a seller of children’s apparel and other products. Welch had been running both companies simultaneously. He will remain a member of Glacier Water’s board. Meanwhile, the board elected Richard Kayne as its new chairman.

* The Los Angeles office of national professional services firm Deloitte & Touche has promoted Carol Savoie to national director of business management services, a division of the firm’s financial counseling services group. She will focus on business and tax affairs for members of the entertainment community.

* San Diego-based California Bank & Trust has appointed J. Chris Walsh senior vice president and manager of its Orange Coast region. He will be responsible for overseeing the financial services company’s commercial banking group, which includes offices in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Walsh most recently was vice president of private banking at U.S. Trust Co. of California. California Bank & Trust is a subsidiary of Utah-based Zions Bancorp.
