The 45th anniversary Harbor Days celebration, “Casting Off Into the New Millennium,” is scheduled for this weekend at Port Hueneme Beach.
Running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at Surfside Drive near Ventura Road, the celebration will include the Polynesian Expo ‘99, an arts and crafts fair, a historical display, kite demonstrations, clowns and a children’s midway. The Polynesian Expo will feature music, dancing and cuisine of the South Sea Islands.
Scheduled for Sunday are a car show, fishing derby, taekwondo performance, entertainment and children’s sand sculpture.
Although the traditional Harbor Days parade will not be held this year, there will be a “push ‘em-pull ‘em” parade along the beach for children in costume accompanied by adults.
Admission and parking for the event are free.
